The Research Center for Energy Economics is a nationally recognized institution with over 60 years of experience in the field of energy economics. Its interdisciplinary team includes scientists from various fields spanning from economics, engineering and physics. Located at the transition point between university and industry a key focus is the education of young scientists supporting them on their way from university into industry.

I was involved in the project “A resource perspective on the energy future”. I concentrated on the term circular economy, examining its constraints and requirements, and realized a lack of clear definitions for the different approaches for maximising the use of products and materials. By applying scientific research, I clearly defined the terms reuse, remanufacture, refurbish, sharing, service and recycling. For a better visualisation I created the graphic above.

The internship at the FfE was a great experience and I gained a lot of insights in the most recent research regarding topics like circular economy, electric cars and the importance of energy storage for the implementation of renewable energy.
